Eid Celebration is a day where billions of Muslim celebrate their success on finishing the Ramadhan fasting month by visiting each other and strengthen the bond or relationship between them. As for me, every first day of Syawal, I will go to the mosque to perform Eid Mass Prayer before going to my grandma.
One of my favorite things during Eid is food. People will serve very delicious food to the visitors and this is an Arab tradition. Arabian very respect to visitor of their house especially to those who they invite.
Chocolate Tapak Kuda.
Cornflakes coated with honey.
And every Syawal, after I finish mowing down some of the food in my living room (yeah, coming home after the Eid Mass Prayer make me hungry and every year it never change), I will go to my Grandma house. Every Syawal, my auntie will prepare line of foods for her relatives.
Breakfast, lunch or dinner. I pick lunch.
This time, I'm not interested with all the chicken and the meat (also the vegetable). But I'm eating a pasta. Its delicious although a bit oily.
What also important is the side dishes AKA served in my Grandma's living room such as this array of cakes.
Local potatoes cracker in sweet chilli sauce with nut.
Plain cornflackes cook with fried pusu.
Kueh Mor, my favorite.
Nuts, my favorite free time killer.
Load of chocolates. Sorry aunt, I'm the one who emptying all the Tronky and Tonggi. :P
So, that was my first day of Eid and its nearly the same every year. And on that night, heavy rainfall occurred and some place in Brunei experienced flash flood and the worst were in Tutong. My village was not an exception but not that serious.
Thanks to
Hakim for the info. This flash flood hit the road near to the Jerudong Petrol Station. Those who come from the Muara-Tutong Highway have to exit back to the highway and enter Jerudong through Jerudong Park.
So, the 2nd day of the Eid start with lunch at Sugarbun in the newly opened Times Square in Berakas.
1st: Its been a long time I didn't eat at Sugarbun. Always KFC. 2nd: Thats the only fast-food restaurant open at that time. 3rd: The smell is soo tempting that it made my mind to eat at Sugarbun automatically.
After that I took boat to Bendahara Lama Village in Kampong Ayer because I want to visit my Grandpa old house (Don't mention about the blur, an amateur takes the photo).
Instead going to Bendahara Lama Village, me with the others got lost in the neighborhood village, Indera Lama. But luckily, we found a beautiful mosque! (I love this photo!)
After nearly a hour walking on the jetty trying to find the house (thanks to the water taxi driver who drop us out of nowhere) I finally found the house! It's a nostalgic because my Grandpa and Grandma (both have passed away, may Allah bless them) call this their home for several decades.
Actually, I really want to visit and enter the house but what stop me from knocking the door is that, there are peoples which I don't know and they don't know me live there. Second, I can't produce any evidence that my grandpa and grandma live there, so its a bit difficult to enter that house. I will prepare next time if I'm going to visit it. And thats conclude the 1st day and the 2nd day.
